Item Description:
Truck Builder is a fascinating introduction to CAD (computer assisted design) for anyone ages 8 and up! Truck Builder is published by Optimum Resource and is available in may configurations to fit your needs.
Optimum Resource presents the new full-screen Hybrid Direct Drive Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X Native version of its award-winning program, Truck Builder Deluxe. Students and adults who are fascinated by trucks will enjoy this program.
Users build light, medium, or heavy trucks on screen, specifying chassis length, wheelbase, engine type, brakes, transmission, fuel tank size, suspension, steering and tires. All functional choices are interrelated and will affect the performance of the final design. Next, users design the body of the truck, adding specialty frames, color and decorative touches.
The program then tests the truck, accumulating data about top speed, cornering, acceleration, capacity and braking. A complete evaluation report is displayed and users can adjust, alter, save and print designs for comparison against future creations. In Truck Builder Deluxe, users may compare and improve their designs for specific goals.
Lesson Plans and Supplemental Materials are provided with School Versions and above.
Truck Builder Deluxe teaches principles involved in building powerful, aerodynamic, efficient and safe trucks. It enhances problem-solving skills, and fosters an elementary knowledge of physics and automotive design. Truck designs and test results can be printed and stored for later use or modification. This open-ended program allows for spirited experimentation for individual students and groups.
Minimum System Requirements: Hybrid Direct Drive Win 2000, XP, Vista or Mac OS X
What is Win/Mac Direct Drive?
Runs on Windows 2000, XP, Vista or PowerPC or Intel based Macs with OS X v.10.4 and above. You may mix and match installations to either operating system. After activation, the CD is no longer needed to run the program.
Windows: A computer running Windows 2000, XP or Vista, CD Rom Drive and from 150 to 260 MB of free space
on the Hard Drive.
Macintosh: A PowerPC or Intel based Macintosh computer, CD ROM drive, Mac OS X v.10.4 or above
and 150 to 260 MB of free space on the Hard Drive.
An internet connection is recommended, but fax, phone or e-mail may be used for product activation.
In response to the request of many educators, we have designed our programs to install and work efficiently under both Windows XP and Windows Vista or Macintosh OS X Native or any combination. For example, a six seat Lab Pack could be installed on four Windows and two Macintosh computers from the same serial number. Direct Drive allows the entire program to install directly on the hard drive of each computer. After installation and activation, the CD is not needed
