No Child Left Behind - Title II-D: Educational Technology State Grants
What is Enhancing Education through Technology (EETT)?
The goals of EETT are to:
• Improve student academic achievement through the use of technology in elementary and secondary schools
• Assist students in crossing the digital divide by ensuring that they are technologically literate by the time they finish the eighth grade
• Set aside 25 percent of grants for professional development to ensure that teachers are able to integrate technology into the curriculum to improve student achievement
How is EETT funding distributed to schools?
• States distribute 50 percent of their EETT funds to school districts by formula based on each school district's share of the state’s children living in poverty
• The other 50 percent of funds are distributed through a state-managed competition for grants
• School districts that have high percentages of low-income students and high levels of technology need are eligible to receive EETT formula funds
• School districts that are eligible for formula funds are also eligible to apply for EETT competitive funds
• Districts must have an up-to-date Technology Plan filed with the state
How can schools use EETT funding?
• Funding may be used for:
→ Hardware
→ Courseware that integrates technology into the classroom
→ Courseware that teaches technology skills
→ Professional development
