Item Description:
Letters Home from Camp Tadpole is for Primary Reading with Audio Support for grades 1 and 2. Letters Home from Camp Tadpole is published by Micrograms Software and available in different configurations to fit what you need.
In Letters Home from Camp Tadpole, two little birds, Harvey and Jay, welcome guests to Camp Tadpole. By using the totem pole, students may select a reading level from 1-5. Or, the teacher may set a level for the whole class or individualize levels as desired.
Children are presented with a letter telling about events at Camp Tadpole. As children read, Miss Lizzy will provide feedback and encouragement. She will let students know when they need to try again, and will direct them to the correct answer when necessary. Each letter is followed by a question for the child to answer
At Level 1, the letters are just one sentence long. At any level, audio support can be set to allow students to click and have any segment of the letter or question narrated. Students may also click to hear individual words.
When using the audio narration feature, the sentence or segment of the letter which is being read is highlighted. This provides nice structure and better enables students to follow along through the letter with the spoken words. The letters from camp children are narrated in child voices. A pause feature allows students to pause and replay as they are reading along. Questions, answers, and individual words are narrated in a clear, well-articulated “teacher” voice.
When you would like students to work more independently, reading rather than listening, there are other audio support options. You may choose to have the narration feature off, but still allow students to click on ANY word to hear it spoken. Another option is to allow students to click and hear only designated “challenge” words which are highlighted within the letter, the question, and the multiple choice answers. On the program's Summary Screen and in Easy Track, student results are displayed for each category of audio support
There are over 150 letters in all, 30-32 at each level. We encourage having students read at the same level until they have read all 30 stories several times. By reading letters over again, children will gain confidence through repetition and success. As students show sufficient competency in their scores at a given level, we recommend they stay at that same level a while longer, but with less audio support available to them. Note that because there is more than one question per letter in the data base, students that are reading the same letter multiple times will still encounter questions they have not yet seen. As letters get longer and more informative, there are more available questions per letter.
Program Requirements for Windows:
Micrograms products compatible with Easy Track run under all the Windows operating systems listed above. Network versions can be served off of Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Novell (>3.x) servers; or they can be run from the local hard drives of individual workstations and/or stand-alone machines. We offer nothing, at present, designed for Cytrix, other terminal servers, or the "CD tower" environment. We offer no web-based products.
Program Requirements for Macintosh:
Programs with Easy Track
Programs without Easy Track
Network* and Site License
*NT Server, 2000 Server, 2003 Server, Novell 4, 5, 6, AppleShare, OS X Server
*Micrograms programs with The Easy Track Management System are available in OS X native versions. These programs run on AppleShare networks, OS X Server networks, and from Macintosh partitions on Windows-based networks.
Micrograms products compatible with Easy Track run on OS 10 native and OS 9. However, Easy Track itself runs only on OS 10. Easy Track itself DOES NOT RUN on OS 9. This means that while our programs with theEasy Track management can be used on a network with both OS 10 (including Intel Core Duo) and OS 9 machines, teachers must use an OS 10 machine to access student records or set program options with Easy Track. Network Macintosh program versions can be served off of Windows 2003, Windows 2000, and Novell servers with Macintosh partitions, as well as from Macintosh machines running OS 10 Server. They also can be run from the local hard drives of individual workstations and/or stand-alone machines. While Micrograms programs run fine in hardwired Macintosh computer labs, we do not presently recommend their use with AirPort.
Windows Vista, XP, 2000, 98 running on PC's < 6 years old.
Mac OS 10.5.3 Leopard to OS 9 running on Macs < 6 years old, including Intel Core Duo machines with Rosetta.
Mac OS 10.2.8 Classic to OS 8.6 running on PowerMacs or above.
A Network/Site License permits unlimited use of the program on all compatible computers within a school. This includes both networked machines and stand-alone machines. Unlike the Single Station, School, and Lab Pack versions, the Network/Site License version DOES NOT USE CD's while the program is running.
The schoolwide Network/Site License from Micrograms offers outstanding software value because it is a reasonably-priced, one-time purchase, enabling use of the program on all compatible machines throughout the school building from now on.
Buy ANY Micrograms Network/Site License, and get a second Network/Site License (of equal or lesser value at the same school) for 50% OFF!
